I've been looking around a lot and it seems to be mixed answers. From what I gathered older games on steam may have issues but as for running windows 8.1 steam games work fine. I just purchased windows 8.1 and its coming any day, i'd like to know for sure before i install on my new pc. I haven't used windows in years (mac guy) so I figured to just get the most recent version, despite the mixed, generally negative reviews.

Apologies if there is a similar thread on here about this topic.
Thanks!

Windows 8.1 shouldn't have many compatibility issues, and if you do there is usually a solution a Google search away. I've played many games on Windows 8 from the 90's to 2014 without any compatibility issues, so I wouldn't worry about it to much if I were you.

The reason there are so many bad reviews is because of the new interface is only good for mobile devices, but the good news is the regular Start Menu is being brought back in an update this year so no worries. You can use classic shell or Start8 in the meantime.

Most, If not all steam games should run as well as they do on Windows 7 on Windows 8. Virtually all the same decompilers are used in Windows 8, the only main difference between the two OS's is that Windows 8 has a different layout and GUI. Don't listen to others who say that not all steam games will run on Windows 8.
