Max resolution set at: 1920x1080
Supposedly limited at 60hz since it's a TV not a monitor.
So, with that in mind any FPS above 60 won't matter.

Question + Information:
I need a graphic card upgrade to play the current generation games.
With that in mind, I would also like to play games in the coming 2-3 years.
Although, at the same time I would like to have all the graphical settings maximized on 1080p.
With games in mind like The Witcher 3, The Witcher 3 is rumored to make the ''Geforce 780ti'' struggle with 30-45 FPS.
Not to mention that a game like crysis 3 already makes the 780 GTX cry.

Also:
I am not planning on upgrading to 1440p or any 4k resolution, and don't think I will for a long time.

Budget + Options:
Currently I have € 1.000 euros I can invest, all in all I would rather limit the amount I have to spend though.

Regardless of what i chose I will most likely have to get a new Power Supply.
I'm however not familiar with how much power i will probably need, I haven't had a serious graphic card since the 8800 GTX .

Option 1: EVGA Geforce 780TI SC
€ 669,-

Option 2: EVGA GTX 780 SC 3GB
€ 489,-

Option 3: EVGA Geforce 770 SC + SLI in 2015
€ 324,- per card
Option 3: EVGA Geforce 760 SC + Buy Geforce 880 in 2015 (Maxwell)
€ 242,90
I would rather take a EVGA because they overall seem to do a lot better with the factory overclock, besides that with the proper cooling they have, I could try to overclock it a nod in the future.

Except for the 760 GTX choice, which could always change.

I do not know if it's worth jumping ship to AMD, but they overall seem to want too much Power and some of the key features from the PhysX will not be included.
With the graphics being the only reason I want to maximize the output.

Reason for me not wanting to spend a fortune on the computer is because of future costs regarding my education.

Any other possibility is much obliged, as of right now it feels like the 880 TI would be overkill, but I have no idea if its worth waiting for a 880 or just buy an additional 770 for SLI.

I see what you are saying. A gtx 760 will do fine until next year and you can go crazy and spend 700 usd then. 700 series is new the end of their life cycle so waiting would not be a bad idea. Only in really demanding games will gtx 770 come in handy (watch dogs is one those games). Gtx 760 can max out all expect crysis 3, metro last light and AC 3/4. Maybe there are more games out there, but I have not played them and I play all most everything. In short, gtx 770 would provide some future proofing, but if plan to upgrade the difference would be insignificant.

Why don't you think about the R9 series, the r9 290x crushes all cards on that list at a somewhat lower price. Or even the 280x is a good alternative to the 770, with better performance, price and extra Vram (not very relevant at your resolution). The 280x seems like a good card but it takes up more power, and tbh features are not very plentiful.

I'm not too sure at the moment.
PhysX seems very cool, and adds alot of eyecandy.
Aswel as that future planned games seem to feature these.

I'm somewhat considering buying a 780ti at the moment though.
I would like to move to 4k/1440p resolution around next year.

Seems from reading that the difference between 1080p to 1440p is noticeable.
4k should be a huge difference aswel I take it?

I forgot I'm getting vacation pay this coming month so it adds atleast a small amount extra, although I have to check how much tax i pay over it.

But if I really take the step into 4k resolution gaming would the 780ti be better for later or a 780 GTX ?
It's still a large sum I'm going to drop into a pc.

Both 1440p and 4k would be a big difference simply because of how many extra pixels now need to be rendered. 1440p is the better option today as is much more affordable than 4k. 4k would yield the best results but would require a 2000 dollar investment between multiple gpus and screen. Having 780ti at 1080p @ 60hz would not be any better in all most every game than having gtx 770. At 1440p, the difference would be clear between both cards with the 780ti allowing many more details settings including some AA settings. In 4k, 780ti is the only card that can keep your in medium settings, even gtx 780 will drop to low which hurts the graphics immensely.

If you're upgrading to 4K then the GTX 770 might struggle to maintain 30 fps on ultra settings, especially with games like The Witcher 3, so you'll want a 780 or 780 Ti for that resolution. On the other hand, If you play The Witcher 3 on 1080p instead then just save some money and go with the 770. I have a GTX 770 4 GB and it handles every game I've played so far at 1080p, ultra settings.

Sounds like 4k isn't really an option. It'll hassle me too much with upgrading.

Maybe jumping ship to 1440p next year wouln't be a bad idea.

Do you personally think forking out 70 euros extra for the 780ti classified from evga? With garantueed increased clocks and possible to clock it higher?
There's no way I'm getting a waterblock for another 200 euro extra though to maintain stable temperatures with the volt changes..

Or does the current 780 GTX scale well with the games on 1440p?
I'm kind of checking out some reviews now.
I mean I could always pick up anotehr 780 in a year or two if its absolutely neccessary.

I thought they said that DirectX 12 would be software based and not hardware based anyway right?

Quick dropout after reading the DX 12 changes what card would anyone advice for 1080p that can maximize every game excluding Crysis 3?

Like will the 760 GTX be too bad to run the games or will the 770 be a better option?

Might hold out for a long term upgrade until next year when there's DX 12 ready graphic cards.

Very sorry to make it even harder.

Just trying to upgrade my PC with a card for long term.
But the GM 204 and GM206 have tape-outs this week from what's going around which will be 28nm chipbased maxwells.
and the gm200 tape-out which are the 20nm around june so it would probably all be like Q2 or Q3 Next year.

I currently have Watch Dogs preordered and Wolfenstein The New Order.

Although only Watch Dogs released the requirements i dont know about Wolfenstein and any other game this year.

With the DX12 features for Radeon 300xseries and Geforce 800 series coming I personally think a 760 GTX would be alright?
Or do you think I should try and get my hands on a cheap 770 alternative from gigabyte somewhere?

This is jsut the last part of my question, very sorry for changing my mind.
Was pretty sure and set on getting a 880ti but the longetivity with the new features would reduce the lifespan of my 880ti just a bit when it comes to the graphics.

With that in mind, I would definitely hold out for a gm200 since they seem extremely power efficient and could easily run on a very low PSU with the Watt requirement around 150w per card.
making it ideal to SLI later on.

Volta doesn't seem to boost too much aside of the change in how the ram works.

So, the last question would be, if i want to hold out for a 880GTX next year;
Should i get a 760GTX to max current games, aside of the crazy games like crysis 3.
Or a 770GTX because there is no way the 760GTX will hold up its end until this year is over.
(I will not buy dual monitor with 1440p for gaming until summer 2015.)
