Installing 8.1 with only a product key

Hi, I'm building my new PC soon and was wondering if I could get Windows 8.1 on my system with only using a product key. Sorry kind of new to this stuff.

You need the software to install it, either as an install dvd or bootable flash drive. However, if you have another PC you can use the product key to download the installer and create the bootable media:

run this on another PC (whatever you're using to post now, perhaps) and check the option to create bootable media
