Hi all ,

Building a second rig here but running into issues.

Pieced it all in together turn it on and notice no beeps , no output on screen , red cpu led and q-code 00

Parts im using
i7 - 4770k LGA 1150
ASUS z87 pro ( 1405 ending serial number)
Corsair vengence blue 8 GB

Originally thought the issue might be the GPU might not be hooked up correctly so hooked up VGA to the motherboard but still no output on screen.

Went through the trouble shooting guide posted here http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems
to which the answers are
#1 yes read the manual
#2 can confirm the 4 pin power connector for the CPU is plugged in to the 8 pin connection
#3 Standoffs were pre installed in the case.
#4 Video card seems to be installed correct and have power running to it but using integrated graphics card at the moment to try and isolate issues
#5 Same as above
#6 No have not tried this since i always thought the dual memory had to be together and didn't want to risk anything
#7 yes ram is inserted correctly
#8 Correct ram slots
#9 Yes removed CPU plastic cover
#10 Yes CPU is inserted correct , which the notches on the CPU its hard to not place it in properly
#11 Only using the naked eye here but doesn't appear to be any bent pins on the MOBO and there are no pins on the CPU
#12 using the packaged cooler so thermal paste applied
#13 Yes CPU fan plugged in

Different things which might cause issues but I'm not sure
- Tried reset cmos memory by using putting the jumper on pins 2 and 3 for 30 seconds then placing it back on pins 1 and 2 and booting up. No success
- From checking online the cpu should be supported by the MOBO
- The PSU seems to be working fine since all the fans are running correctly

From looking at google and these forums it mostly suggest either a fault in the motherboard or in the CPU , but I've no way to actually verify any of this since they seem to be very specific to the individual posts.
So If you've any ideas which might help I'm all ears

( Even if the CPU was a dude should i still expect to here beeps on start up or could the audio be in the wrong socket / bad connection ?)

Hey disconnected the second fan in the system and also took the GPU off the MOBO too so it was only the PSU fan running ( self contained box ) and the CPU fan.

Still getting the red led and q code 00

Then tried it without the CPU fan running just in case but again no luck

Balls ,

Is there any way to find out which would be the defective part without having to get another CPU plugged into the MOBO ?

I'll leave this as unresolved for the time being , I'll hopefully get someone a bit more experienced than myself to look at the machine first.

But in the mean time if anyone else has any ideas on what to try please do :) !
