For some reason, when i plug my headphones into the front audio port sound only comes through one side as if that one side were the only speaker. I've tried fixing it, but I haven't helped anything. I really don't know what to do other than return the board.

I'm pretty sure it's a problem with my MB because the headphones work fine other places, and software as far as I know is fine. I've reinstalled the drivers twice.

Specs:
MB - ASUS M5A99FX PRO 2.0 (AM3+)
Case - NZXT PHAN-003
Headphones - Monster Inspiration Over-Ear
GPU - XFX Double D 7870
OS is Windows 7

Windows will download default drivers but some headphones have specific drivers although if they use a jack they probably don't have drivers. usually only usb headphones have specific drivers.

Yeah they're plugged into a 3.5 jack

When I said that the headphones work other places I meant to say that they work in the rear audio port fine. I'm starting to think it might be the case.

It is most likely either the case or the connection, if it works on everything + rear ports then it's the case/wires, make sure the HD audio cable is plugged into the right port on the motherboard and make sure the cable is properly plugged in.

Check all the case cables are all plugged in. the hd cable usually plugs into the bottom of the motherboard in the middle/left side and it may have two connections one saying HD audio and ac97, plug in the HD audio connector.

I checked the cables and they all are fine. I tried plugging in a pair of speakers, and they worked just fine. I guess maybe its just headphones?

Or possibly, theses headphones as well as the other pair I tried were both made to have a mic in the cord. Maybe the signals are messing each other up?
