INSANE CPU temps with CM hyper 212 evo

So I recently bought the CM hyper 212 evo and apparently, at idle, my CPU temps are at 15 to 25 degrees celcius when Idle, and 30 to 40 degrees when in game. I use CPUID HWmonitor to check my temps and Speccy.

I just don't believe it's that's low. And, also , the max speed my processor was running at was 3.6ghz So is there any other way to check cpu temps and 100% sure about it?

In-game could mean anything. It would depend on how graphically demanding the game was at that point, how high in-game settings were, and at what resolution you were gaming. Run something like Furmark and see what the temps get to after the default 1080p benchmark.

Where do you live?? if the ambient temperature is low, your system temp will also be low... what's the temperature in your area?? do you have A/C on??

I play skyrim at low settings but with at least 100 mods running and Black ops 2 zombies at high with 2x TXAA and metro last light at normal textures no AA with physX and they never surpassed 40 degrees. It only surpassed 40 degrees once but it was because i laid some paper on the top of my pc and it blocked the airflow, i removed the papaers and back to under 40 degrees/ All the games were run in 1600x900 resolution.

your temperature reading is wrong, try another app or check in your BIOS.

Under 40c FX processors tend to be inaccurate, but it is entirely possible for it to be that low under load with a good cooling setup. 15c is definitely not possible, considering that's not a phase change cooler, but 40 seems realistic.

Ambient temp is 20 and the processor temp is 15.. That's unusual.. My ambient at 25-38, the processor goes around 40.. Try updating the bios and the drivers...

From my experience with FX processors and APUs*, the temps do not read accurately. Especially at idle. I don't even trust the results at stress. I had a discussion with an AMD rep on the AMD forum about this. He said it was an issue they were aware of (??!!). But the strange thing is that it doesn't seem to be with every processor. And only since they discontinued their K10 architecture. Heck, their own AMD Overdrive doesn't even read the temp accurately for me.

Under 40c they are not accurate! Over 40c they are.

There are two sets of thermal readings.

One is the CPU socket. The other is the CPU Core.

CPU socket is on the motherboard, and is great for idle temperatures. However, at load, it tends to report hotter temperatures - usually 5-15C.

CPU Core temperatures are corrected to provide accurate temperatures when at load, but, tend to display weird, often sub-ambient temperatures, when at idle. (or just when below 30C, as a lot of people report as well.)

With the information you provided, I would bet that you are seeing the readings for the CPU Core temperature, which is the most important to know and pay attention to. As long as it doesn't go above 61C, you're good.

So I went to check in the BIOS, and apparently at startup the processor is at around 36 degrees. I mean, this is kind of dangerous for me, since I have no idea of the temps while in game, what if it was overheating? I turned on ASrock's X-boost and now i'm getting even lower temepraters! 12 to 16 degrees at idle. I'm really worried about this, because what if my processor overheats without me knowing? :s

Seriously, not accurate under 40c. Run Prime95. That will place it under load. That will mean you will see your MAXIMUM possible temperatures after about 30 minutes. Watch them with HWMonitor. Put a link into the thread to a screenshot of HWMonitor while Prime95 has been running for 30 minutes.

That's why I contacted AMD. They told me the same thing. Inaccurate at idle temps, accurate at heavy load temps. And that they were aware of the issue. But my Trinity and Richland CPUs were both crazy even during a Prime95 run. They would fluctuate wildly. The Visheras were OK at load. I presume, anyway.

Needless to say, I don't have them anymore.
