I'm planning on getting an h100i and replacing the fans with the SP 120 quiet editions. Not using the link software, using Fan Xpert 2. Is it possible to control the fan rpms with them being 3 pins plugged into the CPU fan header?

Yes, I know the chassis headers can control 3 pins. And yes, I know notcua pwm fans are better, etc.

Just want to know if fan xpert 2 can control CPU header rpm of 3 pin or just run at full speed.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Yes it can do it. Here is from ASUS: " NOTE: With Fan Xpert and Fan Xpert+, calibration currently only works with 4-pin PWM fans currently, however with the upcoming Fan Xpert II this will enable the use of 3-pin fans as well. Even if you don’t do calibration, you can still take advantage of the custom fan settings."

You're sure about the CPU and CPU_OPT fan headers? I know the board can handle 3/4 pin fans for chassis fans, but I thought I read somewhere that the CPU fans need to be 4 pin to have rpm control in the software...
