I am building a gaming computer very soon and need to be able to game AND render CAD drawings, 3d models, videos, animation, etc. Would the quadro be necessary? If i get 2 GTX 780's SLI them together would they render as well as a single quadro 4000? would I see any benefit from getting the quadro?
ALSO if the suggestion of just getting a single TITAN comes to mind I thought of that, but 3 cards can be bought over time where as one titan is a lot of money to save up and not be able to do anything until i get the money and then it comes in. It MIGHT be possible but...I would rather get multiple smaller cards.

The 8xx series and new Titan will be out shortly ..... I'd wait and see what they have to offer. GeForce cards make great AutoCAD cards both in 2D and 3D..... rendering on the other hand generally likes Quadro.....but can be application specific. Also some rendering apps won't use a 2nd card in SLI.

I wouldn't because many of my sources say that the new 800 series is just a more economical version of the 700 series with a tiny bit more power but you can wait till the 800 series for the price drop of the 700 series

Well I'm probably going with a TITAN now anyways but a short list of software would be:
Autodesk: AutoCAD, Inventor, 3ds Max
Adobe: Master Collection CS5 Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, possibly After Effects
Possibly a few others like Blender

This is all for my own ideas and projects. I don't do modelling or artwork for a job just myself. I also use music software but that shouldn't really have anything to do with graphics cards. Also some programming I major in computer science and will eventually be trying to make my own video game. Hence needing ability to game, render graphics, and the music I mentioned.

Still as I said I'll probably go with a Titan just to get the best of both worlds.

Gtx titan is far better than any gtx card. Compared to Quadro, is not as good but those cards costs 5x times as much and are bad for gaming. If plan using 3d engines (unreal or unity), Quadro cards give no benefits and gtx cards actually do better. So for game development, Quadro doesn't provide benefits outside of auto desk and cad. Photoshop is not very demanding and gtx cards perform well enough to use all features.

Well personally I don't use Intel (I don't want to start a big fight about it) so I'll be running an Amd Fx-9590 Fx-series 8-core Black Edition, as far as I can tell AMD's top of the line (may not be but either way its what I'm getting) and I'll be running 32Gb of RAM and the Titan as mentioned.

You are set, all engines that I have used support multithreading and your fx processor is a monster is apps like that. The most ram I have seen get used is 24 gb of ram (build 4 entire levels at once). You pc is up to par for any content creation if you get titan.
