The title says it all

Seeking for the better upgrade

Heres the details (pardon my english, I will try my best)

My actual aspects:

* processor: Intel i3 3220 @3.3 ghz
* mobo: asus p8 B75-M/CSM
* ram: 2x2 gb DDR3 1333 ghz (upgrade later)
* graphics: intel(R) hd graphics , *before the accident it was a radeon hd 5450 1gb ddr3*
* My screen is a dell in1910N, not a gaming screen, (1366x768 19 inch) (not looking to upgrade, its just fine)

BUDGET: 418 USD (5200 mxn)

If you know spanish you can browse better the site from im getting everything, because its in my town, and theres no easiest way to gather hardware available. (SPANISH)
* HOME: http://www.xtremetecpc.com/index.php
* GPU LIST:http://www.xtremetecpc.com/tarjeta-video-c-2_29.html
* CPU LIST:http://www.xtremetecpc.com/intel-c-2_19_69.html

In short:
* The best gpu´s here are "Sapphire R9 270x TOXIC" (315 usd) and the "Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 oc" (262 usd).

* Between these two, I found out theres little diference, I would go to gtx660, because cheap and almost same power, but I would like that you justify why I should invest 53 usd more for the r9. (better vent and all that, it counts)

Also:
* If someone know about emulators, I will use dolphin for sure, pcsx2, and other emulators, if the i3 cant keep it with one of the GPUs, notify me please, so I could rearrange cpu + gpu with the budget and ask again for advice. (if someone could help me to do that, I would be very thankful)

Thanks in advance for reading and maybe bother to answer a solution :vendredi:

Other questions (dont answer if you want)
A) the i3 and r9 270x / gtx660, can at least play AC: Black Flag maxed out?? If not:
B) because it will bottleneck??
C) What about btf4?

Solution
At 768p, a gtx 660 should be more than enough. 270x is a card geared for 1080p, so its an overkill at 768p. As for bottlenecks, if optimized properly it should not bottleneck gtx 660. You should be able to max battlefield 4 at 768p and all of AC settings expect AA (which is extremely demanding). Also, you need 8 gb of ram by default or that will bottleneck your system in gaming.

That really help me out, thanks, I will upgrade to new stick rams and add the gtx, I didnt consider the 768p, thanks. Just another thing, "and all of AC (assassins creed?) settings expect AA (which is extremely demanding)"??, did you mean assassins creed and AntiAlias??, that I could even AA black flag OuO??

The best upgrade you could do which would actually help all around would be the i7 3770, but at 4700p its out of your budget. The only reason I suggest that CPU is your limited options down there. The other option would be the i5 3570k, but I believe the hyperthreading of the i7 will be of quite a bit more use.

So, go for the 660 as you have a lower resolution screen, and you should be able to very high - ultra most games

Sorry, I guess I was unclear. AC meaning assassin's creed black flag. By AA I meant anti aliasing. Well assassin's creed BF MSAA is the most demanding AA I have encountered yet where high cards see some lag at just 2x MSAA. Luckily, fxaa is a great alternative. Also, I know Spanish If that helps you ask any questions.

I was thinking about changing the processor later, because the i3 is new, I just buy it around 2 months ago with the mobo I said before, because a voltage problem, my old processor burned, so I had to change all that.

I changed the case, including a needed 500psu, the mobo, the processor, and the radeon hd 5450 doesnt fit in the case, to small.

So the processor come later, and thanks for mention the i5 3570k, I will consider it for later (sold out, and I need more money), and about the gpu, even with the ram upgrade, I can still buy the r9 270x, and because its overkill about the 1080p, does that means that in 768p could handle more graphics than the gtx660??

Does the r9 has better ventilation? the R9 could handle better temps than GTX660??

if these two are true, im going all my way to the r9 270x

The 270x is the better performer of the 2 cards, but not by a huge gap, but still better. Sapphire makes a hell of a card, and the Toxic is the better line. If you can afford it, do it, either way it will be a huge jump in performance over your previous card.

All gpu's are set to 'handle' the same temps, that being 90*C . That said, with identical settings the 270x will run cooler than the 660, as it'll be using less power to do the same job.

Exactly what I thought, thanks for confirm, I will do the r9, and buy another 8 gb of ram, cheap to be reuse my old ram sticks without bottlenecking the new ones

About the RAM:
I have 2x2 gb, 1300 ddr3 mhz,
I can add just one more stick of 8 gb with the same speed?, being a total of 12 gb "slow" ram

Or I should get 2x4gb ddr5 1600mhz , being a total of 8 gb, does speed matter? or size?

just use the new sticks, 2x4Gb 1600MHz. Mixing kits is never a good idea, they have differing internal timings and voltages. Mixing has a very good chance of leading to crashes or blue screens due to ram incompatibility.

sell the old ram if you can.

For the video card, I recommend gtx 660 because spending more at that resolution won't yield better results in pretty much any game out there today. With that being said, If can afford 270x, you won't be disappointed. Karadjgne is right, mixing ram up cards clock at different speeds is a bad idea. Size is important since you don't want to fill ram cards while gaming and have your processor try to access files straight from hard-drive (big preformace hang). Speed matters is certain cases, but not so much in gaming. I recommend figuring out your ram card pins (240 is the most common), figuring max ram card speed your motherboard supports, and buying 2 of those cards with 4 gb of ram (I have not seen a game that needs more).

Final tought using your recommendations:
I choose for the R9 270x toxic, better performance, less noise and lower temps (I realized that 50 dollars are nothing)

New 2x4 ram sticks:
Because if I buy the only one 8gb that has almost same values and all, I will still mixing brands and I found out the old sticks has even lower mhz.

About the i3...
I will try to save some money for the i5 3570k selling my old pc and waiting for my next scholarship!

I think thats all, thanks for everything and clearing things!
