Hi i loss my desktop data by formatting how to get my data retrieve

I installing the windows before that i copy my desktop to D drive then i can't see that the folders get short cut then completing the installation copy the desk top folder from D drive to desk top the folders can't opens what will I do how to get my data

Well from what you say i percieve that there was no data copied ever to drive D & only shortcuts. So after formatting sorry but no data will be back.
Also if there's another problem or I didn't got it right, be sure to write it up with punctuations or choose the answer to close the thread.
