Okay, first post here, a little background on what I'm doing:
I'm doing my first full PC build. I've done a little tinkering in the past with upgrading components here and there, but not a ground-up build. My son had a Radeon XFX HD 6950 graphics card laying around that he wasn't using, so I incorporated it into my build.
My power supply is a Corsair CX600 modular. Okay, here's where the fun starts. My PSU has three 6-pin PCI-E connections and one 8-pin PCI-E. I have two free 6-pin receptacles open and one 8-pin. The graphics card requires two 6+2 PCI-E connectors. I can find 8-pin PCI-E to 6+2 PCI -E (F-to-F) cables, no problem. I cannot, however, find a cable that has a 6-pin PCI-E to a 6+2 PCI (female-female). I have scoured google to no avail.
My PSU came with a splitter cable (8-pin PCI-E to 2 @ 6+2 PCI-E), but it sounds as if this is not an acceptable way to hook it up.
I'm hoping someone will respond here with a simple solution and make me look like a dummy.
