Setting up a broad network with EnG. ENH700EXT

I purchased three EnGenius ENH700EXT units, for a more broad connectivity to the network, over a larger span of area. I've found the devices to be fairly easy to manage, but I'm not getting the results I want and need.

As router I have an Asus RT-N66U Dark Knight, with the 2,4GHz and 5GHz option.
I want to connect the three EnGenius units to my network with the 5G wireless connection, and broadcast the wireless network via 2.4G to other users around in the area (taken that this is the best method).

I've set up the EnGenius units to 2.4G mode = Client Bridge, and 5G mode = Access Point.
The router is broadcasting 2.4G wireless, and a seperate 5G wireless.
I can't seem to get a connection with the second device, nor does it seem to get connectivity with the 5G option. Moving the device to a different area with my laptop, the signals fade, which it shouldn't, because I'm well inside the initial range of the EnGenius ENH700EXT device.

How do I go forth connecting all the devices to each other, and is my chosen method the most optimal for this kind of wireless network?

The engenius is one of the few that can actually do what you want.

Not sure which is correct you have conflicting information which may be your problem. To use the 5g band between the asus and these device you need to run this in bridge mode (likely WDS bridge mode). The 2.4g to connect to ends users needs to be set to AP mode. This is pretty much the definition of these terms.

You will likely need to configure the asus device to allow the other unit to connect. Because of how the encryption works you can only have a single mac per connection. To get around this the use WDS but allowing multiple macs is a security concern so many router require you to list the devices that can use WDS. The asus luckily allows more than one, I...
