pcpartpicker has a wattage needed counter at the top corner, it's 273W.
the psu on the list is a 550w with 85% efficiency which will give you a minimum 467.5W allowing you the extra power to upgrade in the future. good luck

This was the first time a rig scared me (no offense). It was a scattered mess. I overhauled EVERYTHING. A 160 dollar case? The 300R is fine for it, 16 gigs of ram isn't need, and if really was, I'd suggest a 2x8 config.. I'd recommend this build instead..

550w is WAY overkill for this build. A 450w unit would be more than enough too and much more reasonable.

This build makes no sense at all. Wht are you buying an SSD and a cache drive? Pointless.

Why are you wasting money on 16gb RAM and a full tower case which will be huge and look ridiculous with this build, but only get a pretty weak GPU?

Have a look at what Diox55 put together. That is more along the lines of what you want to do.

I just picked the wrong solution right user though. However, I take no offense to criticism. This build is made to be upgraded so the main things I had to get good was a good case and a good power supply. This build started with 8 gb of ram however I upgraded recently. That is why I added it to the list. This build used to be a budget build, however over time i've upgraded and ended up with this right now.

Doesn't work that way. 85% efficiency means it's 85% efficient at turning AC electricity at the wall into DC electricity your computer uses. This doesn't mean an 85% 550W PSU can only output 467.5W. It means if its 85% efficient while providing 550W then its pulling 647W from the wall. At 100% load I doubt it's still 85% and probably closer to 80-82% so it would probably be pulling 675W.

I like Diox55's build, though for $1k I was thinking it should be an Intel build.

The cache drive is for the hdd's I use with this system, I didn't list the other 2 as I didn't see a point. I bought a larger psu to upgrade to a better gpu in the future. The ram was some spare that I got after I built the system so I decided to add it in either way.
