Msi r9 280x vs Msi gtx 770

Solution
Both cards take blows in different games and areas, though as an overall comparison, the R9 280X is the better option, great that it's cheaper.

the R9 280X has more Vram on a higher memory bus, making it better for larger resolutions and also a better chance for maxing out games for longer. With AMD Mantles engines being incorporated in many modern day games (BF4 To list one), this makes AMD GPU's perform better due to the game engine inclusion, though Nvidia has better drivers for other games, it's win and lose in many cases.

Solution
they are both great cards, and it depends on your usage, but for games, the 770 is usually a tiny faster, not much. they can both run any game on ultra 1080p. the 280x has more vram, so if you game on multiple monitors or at resolutions higher than ~1440p or 1600p go for the 280x, if not then the 770. but, check out benchmarks for the games you play, the 280x may be faster.

Thanks. I have heard some complaints about the fans leaking oil. Is this true?

not that i am aware of, if this was the case I think it would be quite viral. There should be no problem at all.
