Will Windows 8(.1) support Windows 7 programs?

I'm currently running Windows 7 32-Bit. I am now in a position to upgrade my OS to a new one. I am planning to get Windows 8(.1) instead of going for a 64-Bit Windows 7, as I want to try something new. My processor (i5 3330 @ 3.00Ghz) supports a 64-Bit OS, and I have sufficient RAM (8GB) for a 64-Bit OS also. The only query which I have, is that will all my Steam games, Origin games, Microsoft Office 2007 subscription, and other files and data be supported by Windows 8(.1)? I really don't have the time to re-install everything as my Internet speed is terrible. Thanks in advance for the replies :D

Yes it will. However in regards to "I really don't have the time to re-install everything as my Internet speed is terrible. "

...you will have to. Going from 32bit Windows 7 to 64bit Windows 7 or 8 is a full reinstall, not an 'upgrade'. Everything will have to be reinstalled.

No. Everything doesn't work. I had several programs/drivers working fine on 7. They either don't work at all on 8.1 or, worse still, caused the system to render the tiles inoperable. The culprits: Multifunction Printer, Canon MX 310, Acrobat 8 Pro, Professional printer, Canon 9000. I reinstalled the system 3 times, installed the hundred plus updates, updated to 8.1 (days of work) and am left with 8.1 that has been working with errors and without Acrobat Pro. Scannow finds errors but can't fix them. Can I continue to run 8.1 without the tiles? What happens when I have to upgrade to a new system?

Thanks for your help, but I received an email from Canon saying that they didn't have drivers for the MX 310. I'll try to find them again. I'll also try the 9000. Acrobat I can live without. I could live without the live tiles but am trying to figure out if I can continue to run the system despite the errors. If I can, rather than reinstall everything (another 10 hour's work--the worst time-killer is updating 8.0 so it will take the 8.1 update). If I have to, I'll work with 8.1 minus the living, breathing tiles. My only fear, of course, is getting the next upgrade when it becomes available, but I could wait and worry about that later. Can I continue to run my corrupted version of 8.1 on a 64 bit system without too much risk?
