Hi, as the title says, my MOBO died yesterday, and I need a replacement. I'm pretty new to motherboards, and I've been told that I need to be careful when chosing one, and have to take in consideration the chipset, and some other things that I don't really know, but I know a thing or two about other components such as video cards. It was the stock motherboard for a Gateway DX4320-17.
My current specs are:
WD 1TB Caviar Green HDD
Crucial M500 SSD
AMD Phenom II x4 Cuad Core Processor 3.0Ghz
Cooler Master Extreme Power II 725w power supply
Cooler Master K280 case
SAPPHIRE 100352-3L Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
4 Samsung 2gb 2rx8 pc3 10600u RAM memory sticks. (8 GB total RAM)
So I want to keep all those components, but replace my MOBO. Any suggestions on how to choose a MOBO that will help me run that system with stability and the option to upgrade in the future? As you can tell from those components I like to play a lot of games on that rig. Also, I would like to keep my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and don't want to spend on another license.
I have lots of questions, and hopefully, you will help me clear my mind. Thanks a lot in advance!
