Solution
The manual I read discusses PowerBooks which haven't been made since the MacBook Pros were introduced in 2006. The PowerBooks have PowerPC (IBM) processors.

I don't think the Marantz device will be recognized because you have a MacBook Pro. MBPs have Intel x86 processors and thus an entirely different architecture.

However you should be able to fetch the data from the compact flash card if you have access to a card reader, be it USB or ExpressCard.
