Dear Tom’s Hardware users

I hope you all can help me pinpoint a rather abnormal issue I have with my build.

To start off here is some info about my build.

My build just got upgraded since I needed an ATX motherboard and high-end Z77 motherboards sort of became difficult to buy in Denmark. So I went from a Z77 Maximus V formula and I7 3770 to a Z87 Sabertooth with a I7 4770K. I reused my RAM, GPU, Sound Card, PSU and SSD

Spec list and Temp
CPU: I7 4770K (Not Overclocked)
GPU: EVGA GTX 780 with EKWB Nickel TITAN full cover block (Not Overclocked)
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z87 (BIOS updated to newest version)
PSU: Dark Power Pro 10 650W
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Low profile 16GB
HDD/SSD: 2x Kingston HyperX 250GB in raid0
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaser ZXR

CPU: Max 45.C on 100% load
GPU: Max 48.C on 100% load

Now when you got the data about spec and temp. Let me try to keep it short about the issue.

From time to time when I boot up the system and it have loaded Windows 8.1 and it is 100% ready it sort of crashes. Not BSOD, just freeze and the sound loops and the only cure is to make a force shutdown and afterwards it works fine.

I can play games and do everything without a single issue or crash andmy system was set up 100% the same way on my old Z77 motherboard (which I don’t have anymore). I’ve checked event-log, but nothing useful, only the event that I had to kill it by force.
The Windows 8.1 is fully activated and fresh installed. Nothing unusual have been installed. So if someone have the same issue or know how to fix it I would be rather happy. Since I would love to find the part that cause this issue, so I can replace it or RMA it.

Definitely try the Windows reinstall, and make sure you get all the newest drivers for everything, including the motherboard, GPU, CPU, etc.

Have you tried running without the GPU? It could be the power supply going bad. Removing the GPU will take a big strain off, and let you see if it's too much power draw.

It is not the PSU since I can run everything on max load and still OC without worry. I will be doing a test where i reinstall Windows 8 with a single SSD to see how it performs. Atm do i find it performing dreadfully and slow with my 2 SSD's in RAID0 compared to my old system.

So far can i say that I’ve never had a system build that took me 3 different ISO files to make a perfect installation. My utmost last attempt to see if it is the hardware that cause the issue is by using the Windows 8.1 Enterprise ISO i have from my company, since is 100% issue free and tested multiple times.
