Ok, so i'm building a new computer, on a budget, so i'm reusing my (lightly used :) 500 gb, non-ssd hard drive from my current computer in my new build. It just occurred to me that It says I have "two" hard drives (as shown in picture). Which would be fantastic, because I could install Windows 8 (which will be on my new system) on the 10 gb one, and have the (almost) 500 gb one for all my stuff, so that they don't mix. But it occurred to me that the "Second" hard drive may actually be a partition of the first one. The "second" one holds a backup of Windows Vista and a restoration program.. I don't intend to keep either. I want this hard drive completely empty.
So, if it is indeed a partition, once I go to build my new pc, how do I remove said partition?
Thanks!

You have two partitions on one physical drive. The 'D' is the Restore partition, used if you need to bring it back to factory specs.

And 10GB is far too small to install Windows 8 on.

During the clean install of Windows 8, you will be given the opportunity of 'where'.
Select Advanced. This will show you what partitions exist.
Delete each one, leaving one big unallocated space.
Tell Windows to use the whole thing.
It will create what it needs.
