Hi,
My friend has recently been looking for a new GPU to improve his gaming performance he's not an avid gamer but more than a casual one playing games such as just cause 2etc
he found this
however i thought that it was over priced as he could get a gtx 750 for £83, £6 cheaper
there is one problem though, as we dont know some of his specs and his parents are reluctant to let him open the pc up to see (its a family computer)
so any way here are some of his specs:
CPU - amd athlon II x2 250 ~3.0ghz
GPU - Radeon HD 5400
moniter - 1360x768
RAM - 8gb DDR3
MOBO - biostar n68s3
PSU - unknown :(  probably around 500w

and thats all we really know, if anything else is needed, just ask and I can ask him

budget will be around these cards. also will these cards be compatible? are they overkill for his 720p moniter? or is there better cards that would do the job better?

EDIT: also it would be good if the card could be used in the future as he is looking to get a new Pc in the next year or so.

if you can afford it then the 750 Ti is great performance for the dollar and doesnt need any power cables, but the 750 is a great choice aswell.

Your initial instincts are correct... got with a NVidia GTX 750, or a 750ti if the budget is there for it. That video card is low power, high performance (at least for the use you described, light gaming). On a 720p monitor, the 750 should be able to play all games at max settings, or darn near close. The GTX 750 also doesn't require additional PCI power connectors, where as the 750ti may require 1 6-pin connector. This is the best option for the current build you listed, as it wont have compatibility issues and the low power requirements of the GTX 750 will ensure you wont get something too big for the current pc's britches. The GTX 750 is also ideal for a future build. Good choice, go with your gut!
