$1000 Build Compatibility

Hi everyone,

Going to make purchase of this setup soon, but just wanna make sure here if a anyone can see any issues with product compatibility. Built a PC before, but was about 5 years ago. It is in need of a full update. Would greatly appreciate if anyone here could have a look through and let me know if there are any issues.

It is compatible but certainly not ideal for gaming. This is a low/ medium settings computer. For the same money you could max most all games.

The GPU is too weak.

The CPU and motherboard are overkill. GEt an h87 motherboard for that CPU. You cannot overclock it so an overclocking board is a waste.

The PSU is WAY too much for even a higher end card. Get a 500-600w unit.

RAM is WAY to expensive. ALWAYS get the cheapest RAM you can. It is all made by the same 3 or 4 companies anyway so it is essentially all the same.

Use the saved money to get a WAY better GPU

I don't know about medium to low. It could use some improvements, but don't think he's that far off. Not to mention those look like Aussie dollars. No idea how that converts.

Need to change out that motherboard for something cheaper. Put the extra into the vid card. think you've got a little overkill on your PSU as well.

I was originally looking at the Intel Core i5 4440, should I just stick with that instead of the i5 4670.

I have been really happy with Gigabyte Motherboards, are the ASRock ones better?

And yeah, your friends are wasting your money. Corsair, Crucial, TEAM, GEIL, G.Skill pretty much all come from the same one or two factories in south east Asia, then each company just puts their own heat spreader (for looks as DDR3 ram doesn't even get warm) and sells it. Also, that CX500 PSU is not great. Stay away from Corsair's CX, CS, RM units. They are not great.

Yeah. Don't get caught up on certain name brands with memory. Iv'e been using G. Skill for years. You can probably find cheaper, but I'd at least get something we've all heard of. So to answer, IMO its not worth spending more just to get Corsair. And go with the PSU that maurelie suggested.

Hmmm…. well originally i was going to spend $1000 and thats a total of $760 so far. Can you suggest a better PSU that PC Case Gear have?.

The human eye and brain will not spot the difference between i5 4440 and i5 4670, only benchmarks will see it. So why spend 50$ more for performance difference that you will be not able to tell.
Asrock makes good motherboards. It doesn't depend on manufacturer (if some manufacturer produces bad motherboards, they will not be on the motherboard market and they will close down), there are only bad series of motherboards form different manufacturers. The Asrock B85M Pro4 is a solid one for the price.

As far as overall performance goes, no, there will be no restrictions. It supports 32GB of RAM, 2x SATA 3, 4x SATA 6, onboard USB 3.0
Drawbacks
No SLI support
No RAID support
But i doubt you will use SLI or RAID

The GPU is the most important part for PC gaming. It is standard t0 spend 2x the CPU price on the GPU. So $400 GPU paired with a $220 CPU is exactly how it should be.

So here is the deal, the PC games I will be playing aren't games like Battlefield 4 or anything, its more like Star Wars The Old Republic, so games that aren't super high demanding graphics wise, would this change things?
Ive got an XBOX 360 and an XBOX One for games like battlefield and such

You still have the low quality PSU. Change it to Antec, XFX, Seasonic.

The gtx750ti will be good for a mix of medium and high settings. IF you want to play games. Even MMOs that are not demanding, I would still NEVER recommend the 750. The 750ti is AS LOW as I would consider going for a gaming computer of any kind on this budget.

Looks fine. If you ever decide to play more demanding games, do not expect more than a mix of medium and high settings.
