HDMI is often different from DVI and uses the TV protocol not the monitor protocol. You may have to use the "HDTV" section of the drivers, for example:

a) HDTV-> 1080pNTSC@60Hz, then
b) correct Overscan.

If possible, use DVI or Displayport instead.

In CCC (Catalyst Control Panel). When attached with HDMI you should see an HDTV section. That's where you should be configuring your setup.

You should be using the latest AMD drivers from their site.

Again though, if you can use DVI or Displayport do that instead (for a monitor). The only advantage of HDMI on a monitor is if you need the monitor speakers.
