need new mobo with 2 pci slots

i want to replace an intel mobo in a home made computer that is ten years old. Will be adding new intel cpu, etc. There is one sata hard drive and one pata hard drive and floppy drive installed. Can the pata and floppy drives be converted to sata? would like to add i am an old man with memory problems, so if i sound dumb memory is the cause. hoping this project might help my memory. would appreciate any help.

*Most laptops only have an HDMI connection so they don't work with VGA-only monitors. So the monitor should have HDMI, or DVI (DVI would require a simple HDMI->DVI adapter).

**I recommend Windows 8, but I also recommend getting START8 from Stardock ($5 download) to avoid the new Windows 8...

Anyway, my advice is to buy a new computer. There's nothing really worth keeping in a computer that old and it will cost you MORE money to build a basic PC from parts (including Windows) than to just buy one.
