I have an alienware m17xr4 and I play a lot of games with the mouse and keyboard. I was wondering if I could run another monitor so I could use it for YouTube or other stuff while I game on the laptop monitor? Also would I need another mouse and keyboard to use for the other monitor and how could do that? Thanks

Depending on how frequently you will be switching between the game and youtube or whatever, make sure to enable full screen windowed mode in your game if it supports it. It will allow you to move the mouse seamlessly between monitors. Otherwise you will still have to alt tab out in many cases.
