So I can get a GTX 670 FTW 4gb from a friend for really cheap. This is the card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130824
I have a GTX 760 2gb so I know it will not be a huge improvement but why not. But there are 2 things I'm unsure about 1st is whether the GTX 670 FTW will support DX12 since I'll have it for a while. The second thing is I have an OCZ 500w PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4H81E87031 it has or should have enough power I'm just wonder if it will work since technically it does not have enough amps which you can check on Neweggs specs in the link, but the GTX 760 has the same requirment for amps so I'd think it would run fine. What do you think?
Thanks for the help!

Performance wise the stock GTX 670 is a little faster then the GTX 760, but by being able to get a a FTW model which is clocked to the point where it has the speeds of a GTX 680 so I could see a 10 FPS increase or possibly more, also 4gb of Vram so I can SLI.

My question was since the power consumption is similar will it run the GPU. I know its not the best PSU, its what I have, I just want to know if it will run a GTX 670.

No cards currently on the market support DirectX 12, and it will be a long time before you see any games that won't work on DirectX 11.
The GTX 670 is faster than the GTX 760, but not by a huge margin.
The power requirements from Nvidia for these two GPUs are identical but real world usage is a little higher on the GTX 670 plus this is a 4GB model which will use a little more as well.

You are pushing the limits of your power supply. A new supply certainly wouldn't hurt with either card. The XFX Pro 550 is good, or any Seasonic model at least 550W, e.g. Seasonic G 550.

I plane to SLI the GTX 670 FTW if/when I get it later on. So should I get a 700w or 750w PSU?

If you couldn't see my other specs they aren't the most demanding. An unoverclockable I5 4440, 8gb of Ram, stock CPU cooler if any of that would factor in.

The desiding factor for me to even look into this cr=ard was the 4gb of Vram. I know 2 is enough now, but I plan on keeping it, also for SLI.

I know its enough for now as I stated. But like I said I'm going to keep it for a while so if I get this GPU and SLI it later I would have enough speed most likely and enough ram. I play BF so it went from 1.5gb Vram usage to almost 2gb. So I predict the next game will require at least 2.

To run two overclocked GTX 670 cards, a core i5 4440 and basic requirements for other components I would suggest a power supply rated to at least 800W with a rating of at least 65A on the combined +12V rails.
I'm not sure how you are going to buy a second of these cards for SLI though, given that they aren't manufactured anymore.

I'm sure I could find them on Ebay or Amazon used or referbished.

BTW, I thought it would be easier to just borrow the card to check (don't know why I didn't think of this) and it runs fine. Also I am seeing a increase of about 10 to 15 FPS in BF4, so I am glad I got it because now I rarely drop below 60 FPS. Thanks for the help!

I think you made the right decision, I have the EVGA GTX 670 FTW gpu and would say it is a significant increase (performance wise) over a GTX 760, and also the GTX 760 may be the newer "700 series" card, its still based on the same kepler architecture as the 600 series.
The new GTX 760 has 1152 cuda cores vs 1344 the older GTX 670 has.
The decider for me would be the 4gb of vram your 670 has, and as you said, pick up a bargain on ebay in the future with a second 4gb 670 FTW edition.
As for a your PSU, how old is the unit?
If you are just running just one gpu on it and the psu isn't that old, then it will be perfectly capable.
If you are planning SLI down the line, save up for a corsair PSU min 850 watts or higher, which will give you plenty of headroom-power wise and allow for aging.
Two SLI ed GTX 670 FTW 4GB edition cards would be easily powerfull enough to take you into the next few years, and that's when the extra vram will be invaluable ,even at 1080p

Yeah, I will either get another one at the end of the year, or if I get a 1440p monitor.
