Basically before I spend the money I was wondering the communities general thoughts. Basically are the parts compatible with each other and do I have enough power. Lastly do you think this will be strong enough for a 14y.o. gamer to use for a few years. Thanks in advance for your help.
CASE - Antec 900 ATX Mid Tower
MOBO - ASRock Z87 Extreme4 1150 Intel Z87
Chipset - Intel Core i7 4770 Haswell 3.4Ghz LGA 1150 84W
Video - MSI Gaming N770 GeFrce GTX 770
Memory - Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 16GB (8x2) PC3 12800
SSD - Samsung 840 Pro 256GB
HDD - WD 2TB 3.5" / 3.0Gb/s\
Power - APEVIA ICEBERG ATX-IB680W
Optical - Asus Black 18X DVD-ROM
Monitor - Asus 24" HD HDMI

OS - Windows 8.1 or 7 Pro (whichever one he wants)

So What do you think. Be honest and let me know. Total price is just under 1700 bucks. It could be a little more or less depending.

Drop down to an i5 4670K, with a decent CPU cooler like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, and drop down to 8gb or RAM. With the money saved, get a 780 or an R9 290. Then, switch the PSU for any XFX or SeaSonic unit, 700watts+.

No ditch that entire build - you can do way better for $1700. That PSU is absolute garbage, you have an outdated case and a non overclock CPU with an overclock motherboard. You also don't need 16GB RAM either.

Try something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($234.98 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Water 3.0 Extreme 99.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($109.99 @ TigerDirect)
Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme6 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($143.49 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($80.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Superclocked ACX Video Card ($499.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Titanium Grey) ATX Mid Tower Case ($113.42 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: SeaSonic 750W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply ($113.98 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($23.99 @ Amazon)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit) ($104.99 @ Best Buy)
Total: $1560.80
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Then you can add whatever monitor, keyboard and mouse you want.

I like that setup a lot. The price is better as well. Thank you for your help. He will mainly use this to play WOW, Minecraft, and Steam games. Hell it might be faster than my MSI GT60 with those parts.....
