Is it true that 120hz monitors have better quality and are faster? I thought hz was only how much fps it could display? And are 60hz screens okay then?

It's true about higher FPS but 120/144Hz monitors have terrible colors and viewing angles (160/170 TN vs 178/178 on IPS) than IPS monitors.
Also quality is much better on professional grade IPS monitors which cost about 1000~2000$.
60Hz screen is perfectly fine, I have good IPS monitor with 5ms response time and it's really good for gaming
Edit: If you want to get good quality monitor with good colors, viewing angles and low response time (up to 6ms) look at Asus's IPS monitors "PA", "PB", "MX", "VS" and some "VG" series monitors

I dont know much about monitors but what do you mean about the viewing angle? and whats an IPS?
