Hard drive failure- same os license on new hdd?

My hard drive is failing and i was wondering whether I could use the same license code on install on a new hdd, as frankly its WD's fault that the hdd failed and i dont want to cough up for a new OS. Isnt the OS rooted to the mobo, meaning i could do it?

Yup.

Only issue is if you swap boards, and even then only if it's OEM.

You can use the License since it can be used multiple times but for 1 PC only. Just make sure you have the correct License key.

Yes.

As long as it is not used on any other motherboard. You can do it as many times as you like on that board, and it will be a full copy.
