I'm plannning to build a gaming PC. My first build was centered around an Intel processor, specifically the Intel i5 4440 4th Gen LGA1150. But in India thats costing $200. I need an equivalent AMD processor because I'm finding $750 (total) to be too high.
Could you suggest any AMD processors (No APUs please) which is an equivalent of the aforementioned Intel chip.
I've been using an Intel 2.8GHz Pentium 4 for 9 years now. And that has served my quite well (I can still play 10bit 1080p Anime on it. Can't play games released after 2007 though :p). Since the Intel Pentium is still running great I have some trust in Intel. Also I've read here that Intel's single core performance beats AMD's.
I'm going to use the PC for heavy gaming. What should I go for? More cores or higher performance/core?
Do AMD motherboards offer same features as Intel compatible motherboards?

P.S. No need to provide links for the AMD chips. The US price to me is meaningless cause we pay 35% extra here. :|

If you feel that i5-4440 is too expensive then you have two choice, either get the amd fx6300 cpu for 7k or the core i3-4130 for 8k.Both perform similarly and are massively more powerful than your old Pentium 4. Also what other components do you have or planning to buy ?

My build around the i5 4440 LGA1150
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H (or HD3 the one that costs about 7k (~ $120) on Flipkart)
RAM: G-Skill 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz (and another 4GB stick a month later). Haven't decided between RipJaws, Aries, etc.
PSU: Corsair VS450
Cabinet: Antec X1
Internal HDD: Seagate or WD 1TB 7200RPM

And a month later along with the second RAM stick I'm planning to get the Sapphire AMD R7 265. All components will be purchased from local stores.

Won't the i3-4130 bottleneck the R7 265's performance?
