Hello

I know there were several questions about C70 chassis fan setups, but I would like to ask about little more specific setup with exact models of fans. My goal is to get quiet and cool setup as much as I can.

So 1st PC setup summary for info:
Case C70 vengeance (military green)
Mobo Z87-Sabertooth
CPU i7-4770k (will be mildly overclocked 4-4.5)
cpu cooler noctua nh-u14s with 2nd nf-a15 fan in push/pull
gpu r9-290x tri-x oc
psu corsair rm1000

I would like to replace stock fans from case as I read those are little on louder side and use combination of PWM controlled Noctua fans: NF-S12A, NF-A14, NF-F12
Case should be able to fit up to 9-10 fans,

So basic setup (replacement of stock fans):
1 x NF-S12A rear exhaust
2x NF-S12A front intake (replacing stock fans on hdd bay from inside, one hdd bay may be removed and fan will be directly on front case panel)

Max setup
1x NF-S12A rear exhaust (1 pwm header)
2x NF-S12A front intake (on inside of HDD bay) (1 pwm header)
2x NF-F12 front intake (between front panel and hdd bays) (1 pwm header)
2x NF-A14 top exhaust
2x NF-A14 side intake (these 4 on one pwm header through 5 way splitter with molex power from psu)

I think there is possibility to put one more fan at bottom of case too.

Now question is what of this should i choose?
1st one is simple replacement of stock option with quieter and more powerful fans.
2nd one is case full of fans, but wont it be too much airflow in case and wont noise be too high? Noctua fans are silent ones but with 9 of them + 2 cpu fans blowing at same time?
Or shall i go with something in between? Like min setup + 1 top and 1 side?

Anyone who could give me advice what of those fans should i really get and install.
Thank you

Hi im using the same case and have already tested quite a few setups with some standard-ish fans.

1: you should probably never to for x4 fans mounted to the hdd, two is all you'll need, and i would place them between the front and HDD bay like any other case does.
2: getting a side-mounted fan is a great helps for your gpu (i tested with the lower slot), it did help my old noisy gpu quite a bit with a SP120L fan on the side, which is not even airflow optimized (fan you get with the H100i for pressure). a single Noctua A14 would be recommended from me, especially with a R9 290X (i use a R9 290).
3: back fan and one Noctua A14 in the top should be able to handle the exhaust i think, didn't really test that much on this point since i insta-installed a H100i when i got the case.

This setup would be:
Exhaust:
x1 Noctua S12A (120mm) back.
x1 Noctua A14 (top, most rear slot).

Intake:
x2 Noctua F12 (front, not on the HDD).
x1 Noctua A14 (side, lower slot).

Because of the airflow restrictions on the two front fans, i believe this would be fairly balanced at air intake & exhaust.

Thank you for answer.
Was thinking about something in that line as compromise between min/max.
Just one more question.
Will it be better to have 2x NF-F12 between hdd bay and front panel or get 1 x NF-F12 between bottom bay and panel and remove top bay and put there 1x NF-S12A?

Edit:
I guess final setup will be
2x NF-A14 top exhaust
1x NF-A14 side intake
1x NF-S12A rear exhaust
1x NF-S12A front intake
1x NF-F12 front intake
so total 6 chassis fans.

This way both side NF-A14 and front NF-S12A should blow directly to GPU and 2 top exhaust should be able to take it all out.

Nah stick with F12's, you still have the mesh & dust filter to get the air through, though you should still remove the HDD tray for better airflow. ;)

Ok thank you. Will do, also it got benefit of having 2 same vents at front so they will have same visual effect :)  so another little +.

So final setup will be
2x NF-F12 front panel intake
1x NF-S12A rear exhaust
1x NF-A14 side panel intake
2x NF-A14 top exhaust (will stick with 2 better visual too :)  and will be 3 exhaust, 3 intake + anytime can switch one from top to side or bottom panel to change config if needed.

Marked your answer as solution.

Yea, if you feel for the extra asthetics from the extra fan then go for it, though running it will mean having too much exhaust (though it probably doesn't matter that much) ;)
