+1 to this. Though its generally the 'fn' button on a laptop. Probably stuck down. Simply pull it off. give a good clean and replace. Keyboard should then stop doing that

There may be a 'NumLk' key, usually over another key but in orange or blue. Hold the 'Fn' button down and press it.

No Its not that. You need to go into the BIOS and change the settings. There is a setting to always have the function on. If you go to your laptops website and go to support and drivers for your laptops model. You can download the manual for your laptop as a PDF. Open it up and read the section for BIOS settings or similar. It will tell you how to switch it back.
