tplink and asus are some of the more common ones that support cell broadband dongles. You can try cradlepoint also. The largest list is from dd-wrt which can be loaded onto a number of router that have usb support.

Unfortunately it is not as simple as just knowing the provider. You will need to find the part number and the manufacture of the device. Huawei and ZTE make a lot of them. To find a router that supports the device you must match the manufacture, partno and the ISP in the list of supported devices.

This is the list from dd-wrt http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Mobile_Broadband

Generally I try to not slam people who post "it works good for me" when they have no clue about what they are posting. In this case he has confused a number of people into thinking that all airtel dongles work on tl-mr3430 routers. I suspect it is because he does not have a clue there are many many models or airtel dongles and the part number makes a huge difference. He likely happens to have one on the supported list so of course it works.

This is the list for the mr3420. I did not find the device you want to use in the list. There is a tiny chance this might work because it appears the same as other huawei devices but I would not take the chance.

If you have not purchased the router I would look for a different model. I really wish they would standardize the modem interface so it would be easier but unfortunately what you are going to have to do is dig though all these huge lists of supported dongles until you find one that matches your router and dongle. Likely the simplest way is to call your ISP and ask them for a recommendation.

Excellent, Thanks bill001g, I would request members to validate before suggesting any solution or posting.
So, TP-Link TL-MR3240 doesn't support Airtel 4g dongle model of Huawei E392.

Airtel zte mf825a aka black dongle is supported by the one and only tenda 4g630 router. No other options for now. Tplink denied support for this dongle saying that Airtel does not offer support to them same is the case with dlink as well
