I am not looking to build this for myself, as I myself have a plenty sufficient computer to do this. Butttt, my friend needs a second computer for when he is at his fathers house, as he can't move his families PC between houses. He also is too young for a job. Sooo, I was wondering, as a fun project, what would be the cheapest build that could run Minecraft at maxed settings at a stable 60 FPS? I am not one of those people who think that Minecraft is such an insane game that deserves an entire PC, but my friend likes the game.

Also, what would be the cheapest laptop that could run it like that too?
Hehe. Thanks in advanced!

It doesn't take a whole lot to run Minecraft, you could even experiment with using the integrated graphics first and see if he needs a GPU.

Eh. If that is all the performance I can get for cheap, I'd be better off buying him a prebuilt at that price. What about laptops? What would be a decent laptop that can run it maxed?

You won't get anything pre-built that is better and cheaper. The lowest PC at CyberpowerPC is going to run you $600+ and only comes with a HD6670. Laptops are going to be even more expensive and offer less capability.

You could go with an APU build, they can handle most games at medium at 720P, and should do fine with minecraft:

A simple version of minecraft can be run on a raspberry pi. Minecraft is such a simple game, you will likely be able to run it on anything.

My laptop consistently gets 60+ FPS in minecraft. I have an HP Envy dv4t, with a built in GT 630. Pretty simple stuff. I paid 600 for mine, but that was a while ago, you could probably get it for about 450 now. Basically, just make sure you have 8GB or more of RAM and a semi-decent GPU and you should be fine.

You might like this build, also note that the desktop GT 630 for the desktop is much more powerful than the GT 630m, so this should run Minecraft flawlessly, all for just over $400:

@Trans Well, what I was meaning is that I have a cheap $400 HP that maxes out Minecraft which I bought 4 years ago. That is why I was saying I could just get something like that, as it is plenty sufficient.

Also, as a side note, if you really want this build, watch newegg shell shockers like a hawk. If you keep it up for a few weeks, it's likely that you could shave up to $50 or so off the price I mentioned above.
