Hi, I have a DC5750 and I was wondering what the best compatible motherboard I could get is. I heard that since it's an HP computer, it won't support different motherboards. Is that true? Thanks In advance

it's been a while,
The Compaq dc5750,
1. that depends on your CPU, which I'm guessing is an AMD Athlon. it need to be the same socket type and chipset as the CPU, in you case AM2
2. also the mobo has to be a small mobo in size like a Small Form Factor Mini ITX which will fit into the small chasi.
If you're looking to just keep most of the parts then

my recommendation is between these 2 both are good

I have an AMD Athlon X2 6000+, the original CPU cooler, 4 1/2 gigs of DDR2 RAM (I don't remember the exact kind), the original PSU (I believe its a 350w micro ATX) and an EVGA GeForce GT 630. Will all of those work with these mobos? Also, will these support AM3 CPUs?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tyan-Tomcat-h1000S-S3950G2NR-Mo... mobo takes DDR2 and as was written, this mobo is a tad to large but can be installed, with fewer screws to get it in.

Saying that you're going to end up paying more than what the build is worth at present. their is not problems with compatibility, if you continue to go ahead with your build.
But it wont be compatible with the AM3 or AM3+ cpu's, again not worth the investment

I have a very small budget, around $100. That's why I wanted to go with a better mobo until I can get the money for a new case + mobo + CPU. Maybe I could get a new case (one that I could put my current mobo in) until I have the money for a better mobo.

for $93 you can get this mobo and case combo and wait to upgrade the cpu. this will leave you with out a working pc but very good parts to upgrade after.

if you need a compatible mobo for your cpu then you

I would recommend going for option 1 since you're getting better components which you can have for a long time to come and save up a while for the CPU later

Sweet! So my current CPU wouldn't be compatible with the first mobo, correct?

Edit: Yeah, my CPU wouldn't work with the newer mobo. I found a cheaper case that seems good. Should I go with this or stick with the other? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/hec-case-enterprise

correct your current CPU won't work with the first option, just best parts under your budget.

I've never heard of the enterprise brand, and the Cooler Master is known for doing good cases,
+
does come under the $100 budget but if you want the enterprise chassi their is no problem as it is also compatible.
this fractal design case is also an option. have a look (I myself have a fractal R4 chassi at home)
