Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place.

Few details:

i7-3770k CPU 3.50 GHz
Asus P8Z77-V mobo
600W corsair powersupply
2x corsair 4gb DDR3 memory
Geforce GTX 480 GPU
Windows 7 64 bit

Recently i have been having an issue where my monitor would randomly turn itself off, so i tried using another monitor i had lying about, however this time a similar thing would happen but first there would be loads of lines of different colors appearing before it turned itself off.

I am certain that it isn't an overheating issue, an issue with the vga cable, or an outdated driver and i have tried re-seating the GPU in case it was loose. I have had this setup for about a year now and have not had any issues up to this point.

I am pretty stumped as to what the issue could be, i'm leaning towards it being a GPU malfunction but i would like to know if anybody has any other ideas and if its worth replacing my graphics card.

thanks in advance.

You could try your graphics card in another computer with no known graphics issues, or try a known good graphics card in your computer. That's really all I can think of as the issue, in my mind at least, is definitely with the graphics card if you've ruled out the other things you mentioned.
