NZXT KRAKEN G10 VRAM overheating fix?

Sup everybody.

I was thinking of getting myself a Gtx780ti. Not being the overclocking type and with some money to burn I'm thinking of buying the KRAKEN G10. However, after looking at most reviews, while the minority of people spew positive ratings at this thing, some critics post of pics of the VRAM's temps and they are sky high.

Should I be concerned about this?
While the reviewers apparently used Furmark to get these temps, I'm having second thoughts. Is there anyway to stop the Vram getting hot? I've heard something about Vram heatsinks...

I dont OC much and I have zero interest in openlooped LC. Just high end gaming really.

A lot of those reviews seem to ignore adding VRM heatsinks which causes the high temperatures, the cure is to use memory chip coolers like these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708008 and...adapt them.
You'll probably need to look through the local stores or scour Ebay for them. I know both Thermaltake and Zalman made aluminium RAMsinks but they're just not showing up in the few US sites I know.
Either stick them on with thermal tape or thermal epoxy, just be sure if you use tape the part sticks properly and makes good contact, I nearly killed my 7950 by doing this...Yes, one fell off, luckily the card artifacted before any (I hope) damage could be done.
Of course, you could always opt for a cooler that HAS the required parts...Arctic Accelero, or even the little Gelid Icy Vision both come with a mass of small heatsinks for example.

It seems like my worst fears are true then. I was hoping the reports were exagerated. As I'm not expert by any stretch, I think it might be more prudent to wait for them to make a newer model.
Hopefully that will fix the Vram cooling issue. I've never something like this happen before. Where the Ram is actually in danger of catching fire. The temps reported are insane. Someone got like 160 degrees apparently.

Just as framework to decide my next move, would you recommend giving these heatsinks a try?
How well does this fix the issue? I cant imagine it would have a massive difference.

Very late to the party, but I just want to throw this out there:

Asus doesn't use any VRAM cooling on their Strix 980 and 980 Ti and the memory on both of those card (owned both) overclocked all the way to 7900MHz and stayed that high during the majority of the time I owned them. So take that for what you want. I WILL say you need to definitely make sure those little VRM chips are cooled by more than just a 92mm fan on the G10. You absolutely need a midplate (EVGA, MSI, and Zotac all come with one) or some little aluminum or copper heatsinks.
