So I returned my i5 4670k yesterday because i decided to wait for the haswell refresh and i heard the k CPUs are going to be released on the third quarter of the year while the non k versions are being released on may 10th. Im planning on building a system soon so i was going to get the non k version, so will there be any performance difference between an i5 4960 and a i5 4960k when both arent overclocked?

Solution
An i5-4670 and an i5-4670K, at stock speeds, will run exactly the same. The -K version is just a bit more expensive because it can be overclocked.

alright, because i didnt want to wait for the i5 4690k since i have all the parts except the motherboard and cpu and i dont want something not to work and i cant return it, so ill be fine with the new i5 4960 right?

There is no i5-4960. You're fine with the i5-4670k.

i meant 4690

If you're going to get a non-k 4690, it would have made more sense to stick with the current Haswell 4670K and Z87 motherboard. You'll be able to get more performance from the 4670k than a non-k 4690.

But no, there is not a difference between the 4690 and 4690k at stock speeds.

i really dont want to mess with overclocking since i have to get all the voltages precisely, im going to leave the turbo to do that part for me
