Hello. I have the asrock h61-m-vs r 2.0 motherboad I plan on buying the intel g2030 just wondering if this cpu will give me problems when being used on this motherboard.I also have no idea how to setup my new motherboard with my old hard drive please help.

Solution

No, your have to change SATA settings in new motherboard because if your HHD is configured in IDE mode your new motherboard with AHCI mode won't boot your OS.
If you want to install new OS you just have to format your HDD and then install new OS with AHCI mode.

Here is discussion about IDE and AHCI modes. http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/148080-sata-mode-ahci-ide.html

Edit: You'll probably need to make fresh install of the Windows with your new motherboard.

It simple just plug your all HDD cables and turn on your PC.
Also if your old OS configured on HDD with IDE mode you have to change AHCI mode in your BIOS to IDE to boot your OS otherwise you'll have a BSOD.
AHCI and IDE options should be in SATA-mode in your BIOS.

My old board is an lga 775 with a e6550.So you are saying that I must change these settings in the old motherboards BIOS then install the new motherboard and boot without inserting windows xp cd and instead insert my new motherboards drivers cd.
