As the title suggests, I'm in the process of planning a build for a new gaming/music production PC. My budget is set for $2000 and does not include peripherals. After some light research and perusing pcpartpicker for a couple days, I've come up with the following build.

CPU:
Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core - Combo or $339.99

CPU Cooler
Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid - $92.99

Motherboard
Asus Sabertooth Z87 ATX LGA1150 - Combo or $239.29

Memory
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 - $139.99

Storage
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" SSD - $80.99
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM - $56.98

Video Card
MSI GeForce GTX 780 3GB TWIN FROZR - $501.99

Case
NZXT Phantom 630 (Gunmetal) ATX Full Tower - $167.98

Power Supply
Corsair 760W ATX12V / EPS12V - $189.99

Optical Drive
LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer - $21.89

Operating System
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) - $84.99

Sound Card
Asus Xonar DSX - $49.99

Wireless Network Adapter
TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 - $38.57

TOTAL: $1982

Any suggestions where I can trim fat and/or perhaps upgrade?

I recommend this. You don't really need water cooling, the Noctua is a fantastic cpu cooler. The LP ram will be better especially if you decide to put in 32 gigs. Also, the psu. I put in a 850 watt for my next point. 2 770's will be better in the long run, because your going to be doing production on this machine. I only put 1 on the list, so you can buy another and sli it later. Also, the motherboard, is not worth 239. You only get support for up to 1866 mhz of ram. The gigabyte supports faster and more features. Also the OS, I switched it to W7 Professional because if you want 32 gigs of ram home premium won't support it.

No problem man, the sound card will be a bit better, and the 2 770's will help with editing and such.
