I have a rosewill silent night psu. The specs say it has sata connections but it clearly doesn't . It has four 8-pin connections which I understand are called EPS. How can I connect a sata ssd to my psu?

Those are modular cable connections... Did you not read the power supply manual? Always start there if you have a question or get stumped. One of the cables that came with it is a 4-connector SATA power cable. No power supply has 4 8-pin CPU power leads.

Check you cables again: You should have one cable with 2 4-piin MOLEX connctors (usually used for fans or old ide drives) and 2 SATA connectors; and one cable with 4 SATA connectors - though looking at the pictures on Newegg it looks like this cable has 2 and 2 just as the first one.
If all you have are MOLEX connectors then use a MOLEX-to-SATA power adapter/splitter; if you don't have any laying around they can be purchased at Newegg or even at your local Best Buy, Frys, or other computer parts/repair place.
