What's the best chipset for gaming

Solution

You could do something like this: If you build your own you could get a z87 with the ability to OC for less.

The chipset won't make a huge difference in your performance! However, you should go with the Z87, that's the one I'm using and it's optimal for gaming.

Cheers mate, amd over intel I take it ?

They have different features. and support different CPU's. Mine craft and dayZ I would recommend either H87 (no OC) or Z87 (for OC) with a i5-4670/4670K

Have you considered building your own it will be cheaper.

Intel:
H81/H87 support 3rd/4th gen core i processors
Z87 4th gen core i processors with overclocking (K SKU's)
X79 used for 2011 socket CPU's core i extreme

AMD
970 FX 63XX and FX 83XX CPU's
A88X APU's (A10-7850K etc)
990FX high end Overclocking for AMD FX CPU's

I am totally new to pc gaming, what does oc mean?

Overclocking just increasing the frequency and voltage of chip such as the CPU in order to get better performance.

Ah, I probably won't be overclocking tbh I have no idea lol, can you try and build me a decent pc from this site which would run dayz etc on high to ultra settings,

Max amount £700-£800
