Hello,

New to the forums and looking for some advice. I have a home built computer that is dealing with some issues. At first, the computer would freeze when I am watching youtube videos, listening to music or playing video games. The sound would stutter for a minute or two and then the computer would go back to normal (usually states that the video card stop responding). I've tested the graphics card with another one and still get that issue. I also tested the ram and hard drive.

Recently the problem worsen and now my wireless network card stopped working. It would work for a minute or two and then it would completely stop working, never being able to get a stable connection.

I could be completely wrong, but the motherboard and CPU are the only components that I have not tested. I'm guessing it could be the motherboard since both the graphics card and network cards have stopped responding?

Does this sound like a motherboard going bad issue? I would love to hear some input to get an idea of what the issue could be.

Thanks!

Well have you tried the chipsett drivers for your motherboard? And what type of hard drive are you using SSD or normal HDD? Ive had windows freeze on me on OCZ SSD disk (for about 20-40sec then go back to normal). Found out on OCZ forum that setting your drive to an "hot swappable" in bios would solve the problem, as it did for me.

I'm using a normal HDD. My setup has been fine for over a year and the problem started happening out of nowhere. I did a fresh reformatting of the computer and still having the same problem. I'm thinking it's a faulty motherboard... just wondering if there's a way to tell for sure before I get a new one.
