I have a few questions about doing a clean re-install of Windows Vista.

I know this has been asked numerous times, I just want to make sure I do it correctly without the possibility in corrupting the OS.

I have a family member who still has Windows Vista on an HP laptop, but she has several worms, trojans, viruses you name it... I was wondering whats the easiest way to do a simple re-install or factory reset of the OS, assuming she doesn't have the Vista OS disk. I don't feel like spending hours trying to eliminate the problems..

Many of the Vista era laptops came with a recovery partition with the factory install ready for just such an occasion. Check the laptop to see if it has such a partition. Keep in mind that a factory restore will delete ALL user files. It will be just as if removed fresh from the box when it was new (bloatware and missing current patches/updates).

The HP support website (for the model of device) should have all the necessary info to step you through the process. Good luck!
