SATA cable will not click with new hard drive

Hello,
I have just purchased a new black edition 2TB western digital hard drive from tiger direct and when I went to install it in my computer the SATA cable will not *click* and stay secured to the hard drive. I know its not the cable because it works fine with two other hard drives I own. Is this a common problem, should I RMA this drive? Thank you

If you need any more information and or pictures please just ask.

Try pushing a little harder. And, obvious note, make sure the notches are aligned.

Tried pushing a little harder with no success. I heard a hammer can help in this case. What do you think?

Hi, try pushing up a little bit the retainer clip on the SATA cable.

Okay I tried pushing up on the clip while pushing but that also did not work. I have now secured the wire to the hard drive using electrical tape. Anyone see any problems with this?

I should have said, to push up the clip before you insert in the connector, you create more space under the clip, so more tension when you insert in the connector.

I tried it both ways. no success. Is the tape fine though or will that lead to any unexpected complications?

Maybe this particular drive did not have two holes for the clip, (I have a WD Caviar Green 1TB and no problem). I never used an electric tape in that situation. Only time will tell, if it was a good idea.

Do you have on the WD drive those holes for the clip.

I just checked my other drives have those two holes for the clips. So this is probably my problem right?

Yes, if your new drive does not have those holes, how can the wire click without those holes.

I know this is an old post, but did you get any results of this? the drive i got only has a clip hole in the middle and my cable has the 2 holes.
