Hello all, I've been singed up to this website for a few days now because I was recommended here from a good friend I know who is an IT Tech. As the title says I am trying trying to build myself a computer but it is the first time I am trying to do so. My current computer was a pre built 400$ Cyber power gamer Ultra 2098 and I upgraded the graphics card and power supply to Radeon HD 7770 and 725 W power supply.

I'm selling the computer for 400$$$ which I am pretty happy about and I'm looking at switching over to Intel. <----(Based on stuff I read I decided I wanted to go to Intel)

I've been looking at a lot of builds here for many pcs and some games I am looking to be able to run would be Dark Souls 2, Watch Dogs, Arma III... I have a massive Steam Library and more of the "Current" Games around.. I'm hoping the computer will last awhile and I am hoping to be able to upgrade parts on this computer. I don't know how to overclock, though I kinda have an idea.. and can always learn by looking it up.

So yes, if anyone can help me with a nice build because motherboards is where I get lost, not knowing which can upgrade higher or which are kinda "Limited"? from upgrading too much? My computer is being sold this Friday so I will be ordering the computer anytime this week, if I can get some help. WELL there is my question thanks in advance!

My jaw almost fell off when I saw someone already sent a reply, that looks like a pretty solid build

4 GB GPU is an extreme overkill
get 2 instead of 4 and spend more on a better MOBO,

also for a PSU i always reccomend a 750W PSU because they do degrade over time (not by much but they still do) and i can see you are planning on future upgrades so the extra watts would definitely be something you'd like

How long do you thing it would take for the graphics card on this build to be outdated? I'm liking the 4GB memory on the other builds Graphics card?
Also I really appreciate everyone's answers.. very impressed haha

The 290 will likely last longer as it is faster. basically it comes down to this. If you OC then my build would be the way to go.
If you don't overclock and just want the best graphics pick the build CTurbo posted.

i would also recommend going with an amd based build with a more powerful GPU, even though its not exactly intel with the 8 cores on the fc 8320 and the overclocking that is definitely going to be done to the CPU you can outperform any intel build that doesn't cost 1500$

I cannot agree with this. You could overclock a FX8350 to 5.0ghz and it will still lose out to an i5 4570 most of the time. It is also NOT cheaper. And why in the world would he need a more powerful gpu than a 290? You already said 4GB is overkill.

Huh? No. you need to do some more research on your CPU's Benchmark after benchmark have shown the FX is simply not able to keep up with the 4th gen i5's in gaming.

first of all, can you even read, i said fx 8320, second can the i5 4670k overclock to 5.0GHZ?
third IN GAMING IF YOU HAVE A DECENT CPU THE GPU WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE
and lastly more recent games are starting to value more cores/threads rather than strong single threads which is why the fx 8320 would be a better choice for a better price

an intel based system at this price range would have like a 4 FPS advantage over you (unless playing old games that require 1 or 2 threads, but even them you would be running it as smoothly as a baby's bottom)
but in a few years when games start becoming more CPU centered the 8320 would be doing laps around the 4670k (4770k would just be sitting in the corner not bothering to move a muscle looking at the weaklings battle it out, duh)

i've seen all these benchmarks and as i just said, single threaded performance on the fx is way back but because of the weay new games are being designed crysis 3 BF3/4 they value more threads rather than powerful threads and for the price it is more future-proof

a 780 or a r9 290 are both not really needed in this build, the 770 would still be able to handle all the games out right now and are upcoming for at least the next couple of years, when things get a bit slow get another one and go SLI or turn the graphics down from ultra to high

The 4670k does not NEED to overclock to 5.0ghz to try to catch up to anything.

third IN GAMING IF YOU HAVE A DECENT CPU THE GPU WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE

Exactly. That why I keep saying that overclocking is a pointless waste of money.

and lastly more recent games are starting to value more cores/threads rather than strong single threads which is why the fx 8320 would be a better choice for a better price

Once again... HOW IS IT A BETTER PRICE? Lets do some math.
CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor ($151.98 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($106.99 @ NCIX US)
= $288.95

vs

CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($196.98 @ Best Buy)
Motherboard: MSI H87-G43 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($74.79 @ Newegg)
=$271.77

So you're ok with paying more now KNOWING that it's not as good 95% of the time EVEN when heavily overclocked?

an intel based system at this price range would have like a 4 FPS advantage over you (unless playing old games that require 1 or 2 threads, but even them you would be running it as smoothly as a baby's bottom)

You know that 9 out of 10 games on the market still only use 2-4 threads right?

but in a few years when games start becoming more CPU centered the 8320 would be doing laps around the 4670k

The FX cpus are old and dated already RIGHT NOW... you really think they will be relevant "in a few years"?

It's not a coincidence that AMD is abandoning the high end cpu market. They know they cannot compete anymore with their current architecture.

zmilkmon, this really shouldn't be a hard decision.

Well I've decided that I will be going with your build Turbo, I really appreciate everyone's insanely quick and helpful responses. When I get all the parts and put this together i'll do a shout out to you Turbo, thanks a lot aswell Spectre.
Reason I took the build was not only the graphics card but CPU wise I wanted to switch off of AMD from the things I have read on this website. Such as AMD is cool for budget pc gaming? and intel is more towards an expensive rig.. I figured if im going to spend 1000$$ I'd rather do the switch now to Intel.

How do I select best response? and thanks a lot to you guys again, I learned quite a bit just in this thread.

Good choice on the build you will be happy with that build.
AMD used to be the budget choice but as they haven't refreshed the FX series it really isn't an option as much anymore they simply can't compete GPU is a different story.
