Hi All,

Recently got a new rig:

- i7-4770K (not overclocked yet)
- G1 Sniper 5 mobo
- 16 gb DDR 3 1866
- 2 x Gigabyte R9-290X Windforce OC

That's it mainly, and all games run great!
Did the Unigine Valley benchmark, good scores there too.

But for some reason, running Metro: Last Light, it's very good in areas, and soemtimes FPS just drops to 20 fps or even lower.

It doesn't seem like the GPUs not handling the graphics, but more or less optimization issues.

The problem is, does this happen to anyone else also?!
I've tried looking but couldn't find any similar issues, and so it's either my being incompetent at searching or I'm the only one with this problem?

Thanks!

Metro: Last Light is one of the most notoriously unoptimized games out there and it seems like most rigs can get above an average of around 50FPS in the game, you could lower the AA to try to help with the FPS, but the game is just badly unoptimized.

But as a possible fix you could download a different AMD driver, do you have 14.4 that just released a few days ago?

Yep, 14.4.. it helped but still some issues..
Basically, the game plays alright, i tried a hell of a different assortment of tessellation, AA, details, etc., and it doesn't make ANY difference..
I'd be playing a level, everything is ok, i don't walk into a different room where it's suddenly a lot more graphic intensive, the just suddenly goes down to 20 fps for no reason... OR, there is a gradual decline in performance, kind of like resources are being eaten away, and if i reload my last checkpoint, it's back to normal and the cycle goes again.

Really weird, i had a feeling it's all about optimization, but this is just so, well, stupid.. for such a game to be ruined by such a reason.

Oh well...

Yeah the Ukrainian studio 4A Games didn't really bother with much optimization

Alright.. I just got the answer to this thing.
It's kind of a silly things, just need to turn off the "Advanced Physics" option....

Yeah, I never thought of that as I was always tinkering with the settings in the "Video" section, and not the "Gameplay" section.

Either way, hope this helps, as after doing that fps was just, perfect.
