Hi there my 4 year old power cool 1050 watt has been very loud and loud for a while now when I turn it on sometimes the psu makes weird noises and vibrates a lot I had a strange problem a few months ago were the computer would shutdown randomly after 30 secs sometimes a few mins
I checked for shortages but couldn't find anything wrong then started working fine to this day now the big question is I'm upgrading my computer soon to a AM3+ socket and maybe 8 core cpu from my 955 phenom should I risk keeping this or replace to with a corsair one it works fine now but the last thing I want is it to blow in the future and take my brand new components with it :(

Cheers

You should go for a brand new PSU, powercool PSU's don't have good reviews and are way too cheap for quality.

Go for familiar names, such as Corsair, Antec, etc. That way your computer won't explode in the future, besides, 4 years for a PSU is quite a while!

Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for the reply's I will definatly replace the psu when I get the new motherboard soon I never realised the
power cool supplies were so rubbish am proberly right in saying these things are not energy efficient either as the panel of information on the psu doesn't say anything about the 80+ rating yet I have a small sticker off it on the main fan which I don't think is a genuine 80+ certified passed product I will definatly without a doubt replace the psu with the brands you guys suggested

Cheers :)
