Hello

I'm planning to get new PC probably next month.
I posted my build few days ago at components part but since that I made few changes.

One big is GPU when I heared about new R9 290x Vapor-X I was wondering which one would be better for my build if Tri-X OC or Vapor-X OC.
Vapor-X should be slightly higher overclocked and I guess also more expensive. Anyone got experience with lower versions of tri-x / vapor-x? How they perform?
Also if someone got other tips to change / enhance build I'm open to new ideas.

Here is my build:
Case: Corsair C70 Vengeance Series Military Green
Mobo: Asus Z87-Sabertooth
CPU: i7-4770k
Would like to overclock it a little somewhere between 4-4.5ghz
CPU-Cooler: NOCTUA NH-U14S + second NOCTUA NF-A15 PWM in dual fan setup
Ram: Crucial 16GB (2x8gb) KIT DDR3 1866MHz CL9 Ballistix Elite

GPU: SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X R9 290X 4GB GDDR5 TRI-X OC
or
SAPPHIRE R9 290X TRI-X 4GB GDDR5 OC

PSU: Corsair RM1000
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB
Fans6 x Noctua (12 and 14cm) chassis fans replacing stock (3 intake, 3 exhaust)

Total price (without OS price is for Tri-X as Vapor-X is not yet listed):
1965,15 € with VAT

Budget is little flexible but would like to keep it at max 2100 € with VAT.

Purpose of build is general usage, possible some high-end games, autocad LT, some amateur level video editing or conversions (handbrake, ...), programming, ...
Would like to have build which can keep up with new stuff atleast at mid level for next X years.

Also I would like to have quiet and cool (as temperature) build if possible.

Thank you for reading and hope for some nice comments.

You got a pretty solid build there.

I can give you some feedback about the R9 290 Tri-X custom OC as I think that buying the X version is not worth it.

My config is almost the same as yours and I scored a little bit more then 10k points in 3D Mark.
The X version would maybe be at 10800 I was at 10109 points.
The difference is so small that spending another 100-130 € is just not worth it, not for only a 3-5% more performance.
But besides the difference of stream processors and compute units, the 2 cards are the same.

I am using the card (one single) for Eyefinity 3 at a resolution of 5880x1080 playing TESO at max as well as Crysis 3, FF XIV, etc...

So it is up to you whether you want to say 'Hey I have an R9 290X' or not, performance...

;)

Oh and by the way, the custom OC results in 1050 Mhz GPU and 1320 on memory :)

Yes that is one thing I'm not so sure with. If to go with 290 or 290x. Benchmark difference is not so big and i guess real life will be even smaller. When I look on OC versions of Vapor-X 290 it have 1050 Mhz and 1400 on memory so like your overclock right from manufacturer. Aaaaaaaaaaa instead of making it more simple for me now I have to think about 4 options instead of 2 :)

R9-290x Tri-x OC 535
R9-290x Vapor-X OC unknown (guess something around 570-580)
R9-290 Tri-x OC 385
R9-290 Vapor-X OC 430

(prices in euro)
with possible crossfire in future.

I guess final decision will be between two Vapor-X as they should run quiter and cooler and also provide higher factory OC. Actually I think new Vapor-X have highest factory OC with 1080 gpu and 1410 (5640) memory.

I guess finalists will be Vapor-X 290 and 290x.
Maybe will go with that 290x as single GPU to have top performance for as long as possible even if it's 100 more, but will see when 290x actually hit shelves.

Also noticed that I put this as request for help by mistake so will mark siles2004's response as answer, as I dont expect many more people to respond.

Yeah know it's over. But it's that I would like to have open option for extra GPU if i decide to get it. Also at load around 40-60% should be top efficiency (i know it's gain max 3-4% but still :) ). + this RM serie should be quiter at lower load and at 40-50% load even have fan off so it's highly possible that until it get to max load fan wont even start.
+ last thing I think RM1000 have higher quality parts than lower RM series from different manufacturers.
But agree if I ll stay with one GPU it will be overkill. :)
If i decide that I ll stay with one GPU only for sure I guess i ll get some 650 or rather 750 to have some headover.
