they each make various models of those lines.... with different cas timings.
colors mean nothing.

honestly, if you're having to ask, the cas settings are nothing you need to worry about.

just get whichever is cheapest/on sale, as they're all same

I'm with lowriderflow. Just look for the speed and CAS timings you want on the spec sheet and buy whatever is on sale that meets what you want. There are very few cases where RAM differences would affect the performance of your machine to the point of being noticeable in day to day usage.

Unless you have some very specific need where you know high bandwidth or low latancy RAM will help then generally just buy whatever looks good with your color scheme or whatever is cheapest with the specs you are looking for (which generally these days is DDR3 1600 CAS9).

The answer is still the same. If you are shopping for 1866Mhz memory, just look at the spec sheet. The one with lower timings will be slightly faster but you really won't notice much of a difference. So the end result is usually to just get whatever is cheaper or matches your colour scheme, or you like the look of the heat spreader . . .

Look at the 1866 Trident X - comes with a CL of 8....it's sort of easy just to say buy whatever 1866 is cheapest, then you'll run into somebody that knows DRAM and they might say 'Why'd you buy 1866/10 when you could get say 1600/8 cheaper and it will outperform those low end 1866 sticks, or you could have gone 2133/10 for cheaper and had faster sticks.......so yes it does pay to shop and get a good set, rather than the cheapest
