I reconlyy ased the required hardware for a hombuild, and assembled it all, but cannot get any video signal. Following the sticky for troubleshooting the problem I determined my ram is the root of my problem. I am trying to find the specific point of error so I can remedy it.
I checked the QVL and very similar models are listed, the timings and memory sizes being The only difference

RAM:Cmz8gx3m2a2133c11b
11-11-11-27 2133mhz

MB: m5a97 Asus r2.0

Thanks in advance

Step 1: Remove all of the RAM from the system and try POSTing it again. It SHOULD scream at you. That's a sign that the motherboard is POSTing successfully enough to know the RAM is gone.

If it does NOT screech (and it does have a speaker attached) then something else is the problem. Try re-seating the processor, or remove the motherboard from the case entirely and attempt to POST it outside of the box.

If the system does squeal at you when the RAM is removed, then add 1 stick at a time and try again. If it POSTs with 1 stick, but not another, then you have bad RAM, and the one that won't POST is the problem.

Most likely, this is not a situation where the RAM is at fault.

You may be missing a power connection somewhere (such as...
what made you determine that the ram is the problem for no video?

if you jsut installed the ram and it doesn't boot, the ram is only running at 1333 anyways, the default AMD speed, so timing and ram speed and other things have no bearing on whether it will boot.

Need to know what makes you think its ram though, not worrying about timing or anything else,.

You may be missing a power connection somewhere (such as the 6-pin to your video card if it uses one) or a 4/8-pin to the motherboard...

Any number of reasons.

RAM timing is not the problem.

Thanks for feed back, so I followed your instructions and my computer remained silent with no RAM. So I tried reseating the CPU and then tried it out of the case and am still not receiving any noise. I have the cases HD audio cord seated where it should be. My moniter detects the computer, but screen turns black ( without the backlight even). Graphics card has both 6pins where they should be and its fans power up as well. I have no secondary computer to test individual components. Case lights/fans also power up, but the power button doesn't shut down the system, I have to turn it off with PSU switch. RAM test led lights up same with ram as it does without.
